Star Tours 2 Exterior/Perimeter Video - May 4th, 2011

OK, it's not the most fascinating Disney/Star Tours-related video in the world (that would be this one), but it does have some charming Star Wars background music in it. Here's some footage we shot this afternoon in Disney's Hollywood Studios outside of the new Star Tours 2 attraction, officially opening May 20th.

Star Tours 2 Live Photos Every 20 Minutes From Disney's Hollywood Studios

Every 15-20 minutes, we'll be bringing you LIVE (it's our theme to this website, if you haven't guessed) photo updates from Disney's Hollywood Studios. The photo may be of the exterior of the attraction, or the Ewok Village, or Tatooine Traders, or one of the 10 billion Jedi Training Academy shows every day. From park opening to around 5pm each day until May 20th, when the attraction officially opens, we'll be displaying live photos at this link: http://www.startours2live.com/disney-world-live. We'll archive each day's photos and then start fresh with the latest pics from the park.

Walt Disney World Cast Members offered chance to attend "special Star Tours cast experience"

The Walt Disney World online Cast Member intranet is advertising an opportunity for random Cast Members to be selected to attend a special Star Tours 2 event.

Star Tours cast experience

Starting May 6, a limited number of cast members randomly will be selected to attend a special Star Tours cast experience May 24 or 26 from 7-9 a.m. at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Registration closes at noon, May 20.

This event occurs AFTER the official attraction opening on May 20th -- does this mean that there will be no cast member previews for the attraction until after the opening? Time will only tell. In the meantime, we'll be keep our eyes glued for the #startourswatch...

New Star Tours 2 billboard at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland

Overnight Imagineers added a new billboard to the exterior of Star Tours at Disney's Hollywood Studios. It replaces the original Star Tours poster that had been in the same place since the ride first opened. That old sign was removed last month and is now replaced with this new sign depicting the Starspeeder 1000 being chased by TIE Fighters.

StarToursLive Episode #1 - The Walls Come Down

Just for the heck of it, we decided to record a quick recap of the Star Tours 2 events from Disney's Hollywood Studios today, and a preview of what's to come. We also shamelessly tell you how to best use our site to find out when soft openings occur and how to get the latest information from home. Star Tours 2 Walt Disney World "Walls Down" Photo Update

Taken this afternoon in Disney's Hollywood Studios, here are some better shots of the Star Tours 2 area. The walls coming down presumably mean that soft openings are not far away. And remember: we're going to be on-the-ground the entire time until May 20th!

The new wait times board that popped up yesterday:

The height restriction remains at 40", contrary to some rumors that it was going to be raised.

The attraction signs on the outer show building wall were removed last week:

Inside The Magic Takes a Nostalgic Look Original Star Tours

Ricky Brigante digs up some classic Star Tours footage, shares his favorite memories of the attraction, and looks towards the future:

Star Tours: The Adventures Continue will feature 54 different combinations of scenes, offering a different beginning, middle, and/or ending to the ride nearly every time it’s visited. But with such a variety of experiences awaiting Star Wars fans, I have to wonder if guests will establish the same sort of bond with the new version of the attraction as was made with the old.

A look at the Star Tours 2 entrance area

With the construction walls down from the front of Star Tours, Disney has updated the look of the entrance area with new signs and other changes.

Interestingly enough, Energizer is once again the sponsor for Star Tours.

Walls come down at Star Tours 2 in Disney's Hollywood Studios

We were pleasantly surprised to discover at Hollywood Studios this morning that the construction walls have come down over night in front of Star Tours 2, revealing some new signs.
